Channel Loading Table

In most cases there is very little difference between the load capacity of hot rolled and cold rolled channel sections.

The main difference is in the applications to which they are best suited:- Hot rolled channels sections are used for dynamic loading conditions, eg elevator shafts, crane rails. Cold rolled channels are lighter and more economical and are used for static loading conditions eg fixing masonry support systems.

The loads quoted in the table below are based on the use of grade 4.6 mild steel and A4-50 stainless steel bolts.
